Paper # 1 Narrative (100 poins

Drawing on class discussions of Amy Tan's essay in addition to your own views and personal experiences, write an essay where you discuss the role(s) of English (either positive or negative) in your life and its relationship to identity (individual and community). In other words, explore the power of English in your life. In your three-page narrative, write about a time when you realized something about the value, power, or limits of speaking English. Your essay should describe and analyze one important scene, experience, or situation. You should devote equal time to describing the memory and to considering its significance. While the memory will be engaging for your readers, your narrative will no doubt also tell them something about you and something you’ve learned about the English Language.
