BIOGRAPHY

 

Dr. Mohammadreza Balouchestani-Asli is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer, Electrical, and Information Technology at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). Prior to this position, he was a visiting assistant professor with the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering & Computer Science (ECECS) at the University of New Haven (CT, USA), a post-doctoral research associate fellow, and a lecturer with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the Ryerson University (Toronto. Canada). He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada).  He was nominated for a Governor Gold Medal by the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at the Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada) based on his performance in research, teaching, and innovation works during his PhD program in 2013. He also holds a number of patents in the area of information technology and information communication technology.

In addition, he has received various awards and funds including Scientist and Engineering in Business Fellowship (Ontario, Canada), Norman Esch Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award-Stages 1and 2 in 2014 (Ontario, Canada), Graduate Research Excellence Award (Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada), Ryerson International Research Fund (Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada), Doctoral Completion award (Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada), and Ryerson Graduate Scholarship (Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada). He has also received several teaching awards. During the last five years, he has published 24 papers in IEEE conference proceedings and peer-reviewed journals with high impact factor.

His research interests lie in the areas of digital signal processing, advanced information technology systems, wireless communications, wireless networks, and low-power ICT systems. In recent years, ha has focused on the following topics:

*Ultra-low-power Wearable wireless sensors.

*Wireless sensor networks, Wireless body area networks, and Wireless communication systems,  * Electronic Health and Mobile Health.
