About the Club

The premed club at IPFW is meant to provide information and guidance that is helpful to all premedical students during the preparatory years of study. A speaker, usually from the medical community, is invited to share insights and knowledge that would be of use to students at our regular monthly meetings. The club also provides a link to the students and faculty of the Fort Wayne Medical Education Center, a branch of the IU School of Medicine. Other helpful activities include shadowing opportunities and a mock MCAT in the spring. We are hoping to incorporate more community service activities this coming year, such as raising awareness about the effects of smoking in the public schools. The clubs is also a chapter of the American Medical Student Association.

Shadowing Opportunities
Although medical experience is not listed as a requirement for entrance into medical school, it can be beneficial for a premed student in many ways. An opportunity to shadow emergency room physician assistants at Parkview has been set in place for this purpose. If you are interesting in shadowing, please contact  IPFW Pre-Med Club at ipfwpremed@yahoo.com
