Timeline

This is a generalized timeline of events that one should take to prepare and apply to medical schools. However, please remember that each school has different deadlines for applications and interviews. If you are planning on applying for an Early Decision Program, many of these dates will be different. Please check at the individual school for more exact dates.

Most schools require a B.S. or B.A. degree, but the degree does not need to be in a science field. Although nearly every school requires at least 1 year of basic biology, 1 year of General Chemistry, 1 year of Organic Chemistry, 1 year of Physics and 1 semester of calculus to be eligible to apply to that school. All of these classes should be completed before taking the MCAT.
