Introduction (Online Resources)

The site serves as clearinghouse for information related to the instruction of the plant component of the Biology 219 course. You will need to use the website to print copies of the lab exercises and Powerpoint slides for the lectures .  In addition, answer keys for the exams and lab exercises will be posted as they become available.  The website also includes a course announcement section (see below) that should be checked on a regular basis, especially for students who have been tardy or absent from lectures. If you have any problems using the course website please contact me at 481-6038 or through email (boselam@ipfw.edu)

Course Announcements

10-17-06 - The grades for the lecture portion of the plant half of the course are complete. To see your scores select the gradesheet link provided just below the table of PowerPoint links. The answer key for the second exam is available in the display case outside my office. I will be working on grading the outstanding lab assigments some this week but particularly heavily next week. The course gradesheet will be updated progressively.

10-12-06 - The lab report assignment has been changed to allow the option of preparing a full lab report, as originally assigned, or a lab abstract. Click here to find out more. Also, the intial processing of the scantrons from the second exam is complete and scores should be available shortly.

10-4--06 - The study guide for the second exam is available. Click here to access. I have scheduled review sessions for next Wednesday (10/11) from 8-10 a.m. in SB Rm 303 and from 3-5 p.m. in SB G65. In terms of my office hours, I will not be in Friday morning this week (10/6), but should be here all afternoon.

10-2-06 - I have set a due date of Monday 10/23/06 for the lab report. Also, remember that the second exam for the plant half of the course will be on Thursday 10/12 (after you return from Fall Break). I will have a study guide prepared by this Thursday and will schedule a review session. See the Due Dates table provided just above the table of Powerpoint links for a list of all remaining due dates.

9-25-06 - The Powerpoints for the next lecture topic (Mineral Nutrition I) have been posted and the rest of the Powerpoints (Mineral Nutrition II - Photosynthesis, with the Reprodution content being canceled) will be posted shortly. I will use tomorrow's lab period to catch up on the lectures. I will finish the Water Relations slides and hopfully also the Mineral Nutrition I lecture. I will also talk about the lab report assignment, so please print up copies of the class data and the specific instructions for the assigment before coming to lab tomorrow. Due dates for remaining course assignments are indicated in the 'Due Dates' table below. We still need to decide on a final dealine for the lab report assignment.

9-20-06a - I have posted the class data sets fot the gibberellic acid experiment that you will use for the lab report assignment and the class data from the auxin dose response experiment (Lab 3). The specific instructions for the lab report assignment have also been posted. I am hoping to be able to discuss the lab report assignment during our labs next week which will also be used for lecture catch-up. NOTE: The gibberellic acid data file also includes 'worksheets' of data from previous year classes and sample graphs. However, please do not worry about this too much for the time being. Preparation for the first exam should be your immediate priority.

9-18-06 - I have prepared a revised lecture schedule, outlined below:

Date Topic
Thursday 9/21 Water Relations
Tuesday 9/26 (Lab Period) Mineral Nutrition
Thursday 9/28 Photosynthesis I
Tuesday 10/3 Photosynthesis I/II
Thursday 10/5 Photosynthesis II

9-14-06 - Per our discussions in lab on Tuesday, I have decided to postpone the exam for one week, until Tuesday 9/26/06. The dates and times for the review sessions will need to be adjusted accordingly to Friday 9/22/06 from 3-5 p.m. and Monday 9/25/06 from 9-11 a.m. I am checking about room availability but anticipate that we will have to meet in the lab (SB 303). I will confirm shortly.

9-14/06b -I have added a list of due dates for the course in table form. See just below the course gradesheet link.
