Coach. Mentor. Teacher. Role Model. Health Educator. Champion.  Collegiate Athlete. Hall of Famer. Community Leader. Proud Father.  Loyal Husband.  Devoted Grandparent.  Arnie Ball is all of these….and so much more.

In 2008, Coach Ball enters his 29th year as head coach of IPFW men’s volleyball team.  His coaching success has established IPFW’s national reputation as a Midwest volleyball powerhouse.  Under Coach Ball’s leadership, the Mastodons have won seven Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) championships, produced 15 NCAA All-Americans, two Olympians, six MIVA Conference Players of the Year, and countless All-Conference performers.  Ball also has taken six teams to the NCAA Final Four, finishing fourth in 1992 and 1994, third in 1991, 1999, and 2006, and second in 2007.

Coach Ball repeatedly has been recognized by his peers on a national and international level for his coaching prowess, contributions to the sport of volleyball.  Now, those who best know and love Arnie Ball have an opportunity to celebrate all that he means to IPFW, the greater Fort Wayne community, and perhaps most importantly, to those who have been privileged to call him “Coach.”  Friends of Arnie Ball and Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) are pleased to announce a special campaign to celebrate Arnie Ball’s coaching legacy.  The Arnie Ball Legacy Endowment Campaign seeks to raise $2 million to fully endow the IPFW men’s volleyball scholarship program in Coach Ball’s honor.

IPFW has made $1 million available as a matching gift challenge.  Every dollar given toward the campaign will be matched dollar for dollar up to $1 million.  The campaign will conclude May 2009 with a celebratory roast and tribute event in Arnie’s honor on May 15, 2009 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.  You are invited to support the campaign with a multi-year pledge commitment or a one-time gift of cash, stock, or credit card donation.  Pledged gifts may be paid over one to five years as desired, with final payment due by December, 2013.  All gifts are 100% tax deductible and payable to Indiana-Purdue Foundation, 2101 E. Coliseum Blvd,. Fort Wayne, IN 46805.  Please contact Richard Miller, campaign manager, at 260-579-5625 with questions.  Thanks in advance for your generous support!
