Why Groups?

Employers tell us that group work or teamwork is an essential skill for productivity and competitiveness in the current knowledge-based economy.  In fact, it is impossible for anyone to be an expert in all the areas that are required to successfully complete most projects. Consequently, graduates will commonly find themselves regularly involved in groups or teamwork in the workplace.

Group project work is assigned by many faculty as a way to help students develop and practice these “team” skills to prepare them for this increasingly common place work style.

While there is a difference between “teams” and “groups,”  the more groups follow team development strategies, the more likely the group project will be successful and enjoyable.
