Course Description: I shall cover chapters
5, 6, 7, and 8, as well as Appendixes B, F, H, and G. the main content
of the course is devoted to techniques of integration, applications
of integration, introduction to differential equations, infinite sequences
and series, polar coordinates, complex numbers, and conic sections.
Grading: There
will be four tests, ten quizzes, and a comprehensive final. The quizzes
will form a quiz grade, which will substitute the lowest test grade (if
higher than this grade). The average forms the semester grade. There will
be a comprehensive Final Exam. The grade for the course is based on 75%
of the semester grade and 25% of the Final exam according to the scale:
A 90 -100; B 80-89; C 70-79; D 60-69;
F below 59.
No make up tests or quizzes will be
given (unless proper excuse is provided).
Homework:
Homework will be assigned, but not graded. However, students are expected
to do their homework on time. It is the instructor's experience that keeping
up with the homework is an essential part of the preparation for the course.
The problems on the tests and the quizzes will be similar to the homework.
