Book: Nagle/Saff/Snider – Fundamentals of Differential
Equations and Boundary Value Problems – 4thed.
Course Description: I shall cover chapters 1, 2, 4, 6
– 11. The main content of the course is devoted to first order differential equations, higher order differential
equations, systems of first order equations, series solutions, integral
transforms, introduction to partial differential equations: separation of
variables, Fourier series, Sturm-Liouville equations.
Grading: There will be three tests (100 pts each), five group projects
(10 pts each), and daily homework
(50 pts), which will form a semester grade. The score for the course is formed
from 75% of the semester grade and 25% of a comprehensive final. The letter
grade is according to the scale:
A 90 -100; B 80-89; C 70-79;
D 60-69; F below 59.
No make up tests will be given
(unless proper excuse is provided).
