Book: The
Mathematics of nonlinear Programming – by Peressini, Sullivan, and
Uhl Jr.
Course description: MA
521 is an introduction to nonlinear optimization and its applications.
The course starts with classical optimization notions from calculus,
followed by a study of convex functions, and least sqares optimization.
The essence of the course is convex programming, the nonlinear analog
of linear programming.
