Student and Teacher Responsibilities
Student Responsibilities:1. Learning of the content and procedures for doing algebra. If a student has difficulty learning from the instructor during the class time, there are other resources for learning in the class and on the IPFW campus. Some of the other resources are as follows:
a. Read the textbook (yes, the textbook has good explanations and examples.)
b. Ask for help from other students in the class
c. Ask other students from other math classes for help
d. Get assistance from the IPFW tutoring program
e. Use the IPFW computer labs; the computer system has algebra tutorials
f. Help is available from other IPFW math instructors; the office hours for this assistance is given to each student as a handout in class
g. Ask a former high school math teacher for help
h. See the instructor during office hours2. Help other students that are having problems with the class; students that help other students usually learn math content as they help others.
Instructor Responsibilities:
1. Help students learn
2. Make clear to students what is to be learned
3. Keep learners aware of their progress
