Screen Capture Tutorials: Progression Based on Evidence

LexisNexis Legal Search Tutorial

Created in 2006, this was the first screen capture tutorial targeted to a single class assignment. Database use statistics for comparable time periods rose from 19 uses before the tutorial to 109 uses after the tutorial.

Global Market Information Database (now Passport Markets)

This tutorial was specifically built to help students in ECON E430 International Economics find economic indicators for the countries studied in their final project. The tutorial was linked to the Web-base course guide I also developed for the class.

The class was too small for database use statistics to be meaningful, but the instructor felt that using the tutorial and the database improved the quality of the research papers over previous semesters she taught the class.

FIND-IT Tutorial

Created in 2008 at the request of Dr. Karen Moustafa, this tutorial was targeted to her business students. Later, it was promoted to the top page of the library Web site until a more generic version can be created for use across the disciplines at IPFW.
