Competency activities are formative in nature, that is, they provide training or an opportunity to develop or demonstrate skills associated with the particular activity. In order to provide criteria for an instructor to assess accomplishment and to help the student understand the criteria upon which they are being assessed, performance scales, called Likert scales have been developed for each competency activity. These can be used formally or informally by course directors. For the student, the activities are assessed as pass or fail and an assessment above a score of 3 is considered passing. Each of the competencies below have a hotlink to a Likert scale that can be used for assessment of LEVEL ONE of that competency.
