Response Paper 3
End-of-course Self Evaluation
Due at the start of class on Thursday, May 1
The first paper for this class asked you to evaluate yourself in
terms
of specific communication competencies, while the second paper for this
course
asked you to evaluate a theory we've discussed in this class in terms
of
your own experience. This final paper asks you to return to self
evaluation
as we come to the end of the semester. For the final paper, you
should
identify:
• One communication behavior you have changed as a result of the
course.
When you write about this behavior you should identify:
• The course material that led you to change this
behavior;
• The behavior you formerly engaged in, evidenced
with
one or more examples from interactions you've had with other people;
• Briefly, why this behavior was problematic; and
• The behavior you now engage in, evidenced with one
or
more examples from interactions you've had with other people
• One communication behavior you still wish to change as a result of
the
course. When you write about this behavior you should identify:
• The course material that leads you to want to
change
this behavior;
• The behavior you wish to change, evidenced with
one
or more examples from interactions you've had with other people;
• Briefly, why this behavior is problematic; and
• What you think it will take for you to change this
behavior
The best papers will have reasonably detailed analysis, display
creativity, insight, and be logically organized. Of course,
they’ll also be grammatically correct and free of spelling and
punctuation errors. When I read the paper I should be able to
“see” the communication interaction to which you're referring. Try to remember exactly
what people said and did as best you can.
The essay should be between three and five pages in length. It
should
be typed (double spaced, margins of 1" all around, font no larger than
12).
It should also be stapled. Be sure and keep a copy of your paper.
IMPORTANT: USE THESE HEADINGS, EXACTLY AS THEY APPEAR HERE:
I. BEHAVIOR I'VE CHANGED
A. Course Material
B. Description of Past Behavior
C. Why It Was Problematic
D. New Behavior
II. BEHAVIOR I STILL WISH TO CHANGE
A. Course Material
B. Description of Behavior
C. Why It's Problematic
D. What It Would Take To Change
