The web site is devoted to develop a web-enabled system for distance learning for mathematics on the Internet . The system is based on Java2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and the three-tier architecture. The developer is Dr. Yifei Pan, professor of Department of Mathematical Sciences at IPFW, and Sun Certified Programmer for Java2 Platform.
Objectives of the system
1) Applets are developed to demonstrate mathematical concept, theorems graphically and numerically.
2) Servlets are used to perform numerical computation of mathematical algorithms, and methods including Newton's and integral numerical computation.

3) Communication between Applets and Servlets allows students submit their projects real-time and be recorded real-time.

4) An online test engine that allows students take quizzes on the Internet and be graded and recorded real-time.

The Java Technology Research Center at IPFW
The lab is powered by Gateway 6400 server running (funded by IPFW)Windows 2000 and A Sun Ultra Workstation running Apache and Jserv. (From Sun Microsystems, Inc)
New:
The Java Technology Training Center
has been recently established at The Division of Continuing Studies at IPFW. It will provide updated Java technology training for IT professionals and students through various courses.
