Certificate in Entrepreneurship Program

Course Objectives:

The purpose of this course will be threefold. First, the students will be exposed to and interact with a wide range of successful entrepreneurs. Secondly, the course will provide a challenging atmosphere that will promote personal growth with an emphasis on leadership. Lastly, the students' own business plan will be guided, developed and critiqued.

Course Description:

The purpose of this seminar course is to introduce students to the general theories, principles, concepts and practices of entrepreneurship. Concentrating in the starting, financing and managing of a new enterprise, this course attempts to prepare potential entrepreneurs in avoiding or (at least) mitigating the pitfalls of a new venture initiation. This hands-on course will follow a seminar format and focus on developing an actual business plan for your vision of a potential venture. This course is taken as a co-requisite with the Practicum in Entrepreneurship in which each student will consult with a client of the CEE, NIIC, and/or SBDC so as to strengthen their business. This Seminar and associated Practicum are part of the Certificate in Entrepreneurship program funded by the Cole Foundation. Your tuition stipend is contingent upon successful completion of the 12 credit curriculum between August 2004 and May 2005.
