ACS 565 /562 & CS365/364 Publication

Paper 

At the Junior to MS level, students are encouraged to participate in journal publication, one of the hallmarks of academism. ACS565/562  and CS365/364 offer opportunities to immerse students in the publishing process. To achieve this, students should aim to transform the assigned database research projects into publishable work.  Some of the research projects require students to push forward the frontiers of  knowledge in the given area. The publication thus entails describing the adopted approach to solving the problem coupled with literature survey. The literature survey gives an idea about what has been accomplished so far in the assigned research area by other researchers vis-à-vis the project.  By transforming the project and mimicking other authors (without plagiarizing), students can become proficient in paper production.   The instructor supports this publication endeavor by providing needed assistance. 

 Note

(1) Project execution with documentation/presentation earns 25 %, while paper fetches  15%.

(2) Check  the collection of classic papers in database: Readings in Database Systems by Stonebraker et al. 1998.

(3) Adopt ACM  publication format.
