Another view across Almaty from Kok Tobe hill - looking a little south of west. The main television broadcast tower sits near the top of the hill. It is about 700 feet tall and can be seen from most parts of the city.

The mountains fade into the thick air but continue west for a couple hundred miles. Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, is about 100 miles from Almaty - roughly in the direction of the big red building near the center of the picture.
