St. Basil's Cathedral is very old, very ornate, built almost exclusively of wood, and probably the most widely known building in Russia. It stands at one end of Red Square.

To the right of this picture is the outer walls of the Kremlin ("kreml" in Russian means "fort") and the largest gate through the walls, topped by the high tower containing a large clock. The tower and clock are a symbol of Moscow and Russia in the same way that "Big Ben" is a symbol of London and England.
