This small lake is in Gorky Park, one of the larger parks in Moscow - and made known in the U.S. through a sensational novel and a related movie. It lies along the Moscow river, very near the center of the city.

Moscow has many large parks - many more than the average U.S. city. The parks are used very often by Moscow residents - fewer in the winter, but it is not unusual to see people standing or walking in a park even on very cold days. The larger parks usually have amusement rides (the number and sophistication varies with the size of the park), cafes, food vendors, and other sales kiosks.
