Once comfortably inside, the typical wealth Bukhara man would expect to be served tea and fruits, nuts and/or sweets by his servants or spouse. Until the mid-20th Century there was little distinction between servants and wives, except for how they dressed. The model is not Uzbek, but the costume is that of the wife or daughter of a wealthy man, probably a merchant or high government official. This particular costume is less than 100 years old, but the style is one that was current for hundreds of years.
