GLOBAL STUDIES FACULTY STUDY GROUPS

From its inception, the Center for the Study of Global Change has supported Faculty Study Groups to facilitate and encourage intellectual exchange between faculty and students from different disciplines and professional schools.  The Center seeks to expand the development of Global Studies Faculty Study Groups to faculty, administrators, and graduate students throughout the IU system.  For example, through the use of interactive video technology, study group participants at all eight IU campuses could participate in a wide range of international issues that can be used to develop new courses, publish research, and stimulate interdisciplinary discussions.  Past and current Faculty Study Groups supported by the Center include:

<Changing Patterns in the Use of Force

<The Transformation of Communist and Post-Communist Societies

                <Coping with Globalization

<Culture, Communication, and Identity in the Modern Nation State

<Neoliberalism and Structural Adjustment in Latin America and Africa

                <Global Ageing

<Comparing Socialist and Post-Socialist Cultures: East Asia and Eastern Europe

The Center can provide funding to support the travel of visiting faculty, the organization of conferences (excluding food and beverages), the travel of Faculty Study Group members to academic conferences, and partial publication support.  The Center plans to support two Faculty Study Groups per year.  Faculty from all academic disciplines and professional schools from any of the IU system campuses are encouraged to apply.
