GLOBAL STUDIES TRAVEL/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS

The Center for the Study of Global Change has limited funds to assist Indiana University system faculty members with their travel to promote the internationalization of the curriculum.  Such travel might include attendance at a conference on strategies on internationalizing the curriculum; workshops on the development of distance education courses;  or meetings of regional college associations which promote international research and education.  Awards range from $200 to $500 and can be used either for domestic or overseas travel.  If traveling abroad, the Center must submit the travel request to the U.S. Department of Education for final approval; applicants must provide their travel information to the Center at least thirty days in advance of departure and comply with “Fly America” federal government regulations (travel by U.S. air carrier).

To apply for a Travel/Professional Development Grant, simply write a letter to the Director which explains the purpose of your travel, travel costs, and planned itinerary.  A strong application will include information about how the proposed travel will contribute to the internationalization IU campuses.  Grant applications which promote the internationalization of curriculum in the IU system through distance education, collaborative projects, or other venues will receive priority funding.  There is no formal application form and applications are accepted and reviewed year round.  For more information, please contact the Center.  Letters of application should be sent to:
