Assignment 6: "Voluntary" Final Project: Synthesis (40%)*

Due: Monday, December 11

And don't forget to read the disclaimer

Length: 1000 words: (4 pages or so... INCLUDING your "works cited" page(s))

Format: hard copy (print it), MLA format- NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Your FINAL assignment is to write a synthesis of everything you have learned and written this semester. Include your WORKS CITED PAGE IN MLA FORMAT. You already have all the material you need. This is a combination of Synthesis, Inference and (Re)evaluation.

Some thoughts that may help:

This paper is a demonstration of your ability to synthesise information, use inference to read (and write) "between the lines" and most important; your ability to edit and rewrite the material you have written so far. Form and technique will count FAR more heavily than it has in the past because you have had several rewrites, markups, and time to "polish" your writing. THIS PAPER WILL NOT BE RETURNED unless you make an effort to contact me early next semester.

Show your lucky reader the ideas you have acquired this semester and your ability to articulate them clearly and precisely. If you choose to do Extra Credit, INCLUDE WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED FROM YOUR READING IN YOUR FINAL SYNTHESIS.

I would wish you luck. But it doesn't depend on luck. It's skill.

*As discussed in class, handing in this assignment CAN NOT hurt your grade. If the grade is HIGHER than the average of the work you have handed in so far, it will count as 40% of your final grade. Otherwise, your average will be based on 60% of the work you have handed in so far, 30% class participation.
