Comparative Analysis Essay

Due: Wednesday, 10/12/11

Length: 750 words (three pages or so) plus Works Cited page

In this essay, you’ll analyze and review three different sources and perspectives on your topic.  The sources you find for this assignment can include scholarly journal articles (we’ll focus on scholarly sources in your next assignment, the Annotated Bibliography).  Among the sources you might want to include are books; substantial periodicals (reputable newspapers and magazines); internet/web sources; blogs; videos; transcripts of NPR or PBS, etc. radio/television broadcasts; documentary films, etc.

You will not need to use parenthetical citations within your essay to cite your sources; however you are required to include a Works Cited page, with correctly formatted bibliographic citations, using MLA style

Some thoughts that may help: How do the texts you are citing help you "customize" the broad topic of "socialism" and/or "peak oil?" Are you being driven by any pre-concieved ideas or perceptions? Of course you are! What are they? Will these texts help you design some kind of primary research? Could/ would you modify your personal reflection essay based on what you have learned so far?
