        I am organizing, as the publicity co-chair, the International Conference on Database Systems for Advanced Applications (DASFAA 2016), April 16-19, 2016.

        I work as a program committee for the ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge and Data Mining (KDD 2016), August 13-17, 2016. ††

 

        I am organizing, as the publicity co-chair, the International Symposium on Spatial and Temporal Databases (SSTD 2015), August 2015.

SSTD2105 is the fourteenth event of a series of biannual symposia that discuss new and exciting research in spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal data management and related technologies and start setting future research directions. The SSTD publications have high impact on spatial and temporal data research area in computer science and other relative area. Here is the Call of Participation.

        My four graduate students participated the 2015 IPFW Student Research and Creative Endeavor Symposium. David Kimmey won 3rd place in the graduate category. Congraduation!!

        I work as a reviewer for the Knowledge and Information systems (KAIS) Journal.

        I have been selected for participation in the 2015 Leadership in Science Policy Workshop, Washington D.C., April 27-28, 2015

        I work as a program committee for the International Workshop on Mobile Spatial Information Systems, 2015

        I was invited to the review panel of NSF/IIS (Information and Intelligent Systems) program, 2015.

        A recent work with Air Force Research Lab has been selected for publication in the ASE International Conference on Big Data (BigData 2014).

        I was selected as a research presenter in the 2014 KOCSEA Technical Symposium on December 2014, and had an opportunity to visit IBM Watson Analytics Center.

        I work as a program committee for the Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (PAKDD 20105), May 2015.

        Congratulation! I have successfully secured the 2014-2015 IPFW Graduate Research Assistantships grant for my student, which is one of only two positions at IPFW awarded every school year.

 

        Congratulation! An ACS graduate student David Kimmey is selected as be the US Air Force Summer Graduate Student. He will work with me at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Rome, NY, in this summer.

 

        I have attended the Big Data and Analytics Developer Day by IBM in Indianapolis on April 30, 2014.

 

        A recent work is accepted for publication in the 2014 International Conference on Advances in Big Data Analytics, May 2014.

 

        I have honorably invited to give my talk in the Annual Meeting and Banquet of the IPFW Chapter Sigma Xi on April 28, 2014. The talk is about ďData Mining in the Era of Big DataĒ for general audience.

 

        I have been honorably invited to present my work in IEEE Fort Wayne Section Technical Meeting. The event is at 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at room ET346. The talk topic (ďSpatial Data Mining in the Era of Big DataĒ) is available in the IEEE Fort Wayne Section event .

 

        I have honorably chosen as the IPFW Chapter Sigma Xi Researcher of the Year for 2014 with another researcher. Sigma Xi is an international, private, non-profit, multidisciplinary research society whose programs and activities promotes the health of the scientific enterprise and honor scientific achievement. The Researcher of the Year is selected through the review process of accomplishments in research over the past two years and the significance of nominee research.

        I have been selected as a Faculty Fellow for the 2014 Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship Program (AF SFFP).This is the second award from US Air Force which is followed by the 2013 Visiting Faculty Research Program Award.

 

        A collaboration work with US Air Force Research Laboratory has been accepted for publication in 2014 IEEE Big Data Conference.A graduate student, David Kimmey, also worked for the research manuscript.

 

        A research work with a student, Vasudevan, has been accepted for publication in 2014 International Conference on Pervasive Pattern and Applications.

 

        Iím serving as a program committee for IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM 2014), Shenzhen, China, December 14-17, 2014.  The conference is one of the world's premier research conferences in data mining. 

 

        Iím serving as a program committee for the 22th ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems (ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2014), Dallas, Texas, November 4 to 7, 2014.  ACM SIGSPAITAL GIS aims bringing together researchers, developers and users in relation to theory and systems based on geo-spatial data and knowledge and discussing for advances of computer science in geographic information systems.

         

        This year, Iím serving as journal reviewers of ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data (TKDD), IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (TKDE), and Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS).

 

        An initial work result with AFRL is presented in the IEEE International Conference on Big Data (IEEE BigData 2013), Santa Clara, CA, October6-9, 2013.

 

        Iím serving as a program committee for the 18th Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (PAKDD 2014), Tainan, Taiwan, May 13-16, 2014.

 

        I have received an extended grant from U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) for Spatial Big Data analytics, August 2013.

 

        Congratulation!! I have received 2013 Visiting Faculty Research Program (VFRP) award from U.S. Air Force. I am working in an Air Force research laboratory at Rome, New York, in this summer.

        Congratulation!! Hima Vasudevan has successfully completed her graduate research thesis defense on April 16, 2012.

 

        A collaboration work with a researcher in Education area was accepted for publication in International Conference on Educational Data Mining (EDM)The EDM is an internationally known conference which has a specialty in educational data mining. The proceedings of this conference include works to study how to apply data mining to analyze data generated by various information systems supporting learning or education.     

 

        I have served as one of panelists in ďWomen Pursuing A Career in EngineeringĒ workshop sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, IPFW.The panel discussion is from noon to 1:15pm, on Mar 25, 2012, at Walb Student Union.Welcome both female and male students.

 

        I have received 2012 PRF Summer Faculty Grant for Research from Purdue University.

        Congratulation!! A work with Mark Bow (ďMining Spatial Colocation Pattern: A Different FrameworkĒ) has been published in Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery Journal which is ranked ďTop OneĒ intop journals in Data Mining at Microsoft Academic search.The Online First TM version is available here.

        The 19th ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems (ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2011) will be held at Chicago from November 1 to 4.  ACM SIGSPAITAL GIS aims bringing together researchers, developers and users in relation to theory and systems based on geo-spatial data and knowledge and discussing all aspects of geographic information systems. I serve on program committee.

 

        Congratulation!! Mark Bow successfully finished his graduate research thesis defense on July, 2011.

 

        The 12th International Symposium on Spatial and Temporal Databases, August 24th-26th, 2011 in Minneapolis, MN

Iím organizing, as the publicity chair, the  International Symposium on Spatial and Temporal Databases 2011 (SSTD 2011) . It is the twelfth event of a series of biannual symposia that discuss new and exciting research in spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal data management and related technologies and start setting future research directions.  SSTD publications have high impacts on spatial and temporal data research area.  Please consider to contribute to and/or forward to the appropriate groups the  CFP(Call For Paper) to submit and publish original scientific results and experience reports from application specialists and the commercial community. 

 

       Computer Science Department received $500,000 of the Talent Initiative for ďInformation Analytics and Visualization CenterĒ at IPFW on June 1, 2010.  The Talent Initiative, established by a $20 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., is a 10-county regional program focused on accelerating education and training initiatives in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

 

        Congratulation!! Mark Bow received a graduate research assistantship grant for academic year 2010-2011 from IPFW graduate school as one of two receivers.  This is one-year funding for a .50 FTE graduate research assistant.
