- Supposedly, some of his brothers came to his funeral in Detroit in 1922, but were never seen again.
- Speculation has it that the Douglas men were lumberjacks who immigrated from Canada.
- Concurrently, the surname Kampher or Kampfer was used and it is unsure if this was a woman's maiden name or a step-father's name.
There may also be some connection to the name Guy Kampher.
